Vietnam Motorbike Food Tour - Episode 2 - Easy Rider Trip

Saigon Unseen and 7 Food Tasting booked via Tripadvisor. Guided by Francis.

Next stop was the flower markets and I just loved the beautiful flowers. I managed to take a couple of photos but not of the best of what I saw. Most stalls had signs up asking that photos not be taken.

There were roses of all shapes and colours, lotus, carnations, Lillie’s, hydrangeas, marigolds, chrysanthem and even gorgeous ranuncula (probably my favourite flowers) to name just some of what I saw.

At our next stop our group shared banh xeo which is a crispy pancake that is wrapped in a variety of salad leaves before eating. In this photo you see one of our guides showing us how to prepare our “wraps”. This was very yummy. The little wraps could be dipped in a fish sauce dressing before eating.

At our next stop we had pork wrapped around lemongrass stalks, we removed the stalks before eating. We dipped this in a yummy sweet sauce and it was my favourite food of the evening. We also had beef wrapped in leaves - I wasn’t so keen on this but will definately try again as I know this is a local speciality and may taste different next time.

We were also offered two juice and two beer options at this stop. I chose Saigon Beer which was nice and refreshing. Some other guests chose the passion fruit juice drink which they enjoyed.

See Francis above telling funny stories to our group. The other guides were very nice too but not so confident with English.
and yes it is hard fitting my big bum on the little chairs … but I am doing it 😆

Our next stop was at Bahn mi 24 in district 10. This was so yummy and much tastier and fresher than the banh mi I had in Ben thanh markets earlier in the day. I know that I said the other was my favourite but this was too.

At our last stop we had coffee flan. It was kind of like crème caramel and had a sauce that was possibly watered down condensed milk. Served covered in ice it was quite refreshing but at this stage of the night I had had enough to eat so only had a small taste.
We also had kumquat tea here that is supposedly good for digestion … served cold it was refreshing and a nice way to end the evening.
After saying goodbye to the group Francis took me back to my hotel via less busy roads (due to it being later in the evening) and narrow alleyways as he looked for shortcuts through the city. Thank you Francis, I had a great time 😀
I now feel more confident to ride on a motorbike so I thank Francis for that too.
Plus I had a great introduction to some of Vietnams food delicacies.
On the tour we visited districts (quan) 1, 3 and 10. There were a few short strolls but minimal walking really. Highly recommended tour. Just one thing I would add is that it would have been good to maybe see a menu written down of what we ate so that we can refer to it when we travel outside of Ho Chi Minh City and the menus may not have English translations.
