Ho Chi Minh City - Day 3

I have done a lot of walking since being here so I rested and spent time writing my blog today.
In the afternoon I got a much needed hair cut and colour and a massage. I dilemmad over what to do for hours. Can I afford it, what will it cost, can I do without it, where do I go etc etc etc
The first place I enquired at said yes initially but then no when I showed them a photo. Maybe they could only trim hair.

Anyway I went here which is just outside the alley where I was staying at 217/27 Duong de Tham, district 1, Ho Chi Minh City. Duong De Tham is just off Bui Vien Walking Street so is very easy to find and in a central District 1 location.
I had struggled to find info online about getting my hair done in Ho Chi Minh so I want to share my experience.
Anyway this boy cut my hair … sorry I hurriedly took this photo as my grab was leaving this morning. He was giving me a fist pump of approval for the styling job that I had done. Initially I wondered if this boy was even old enough to cut hair but really this is just me showing my age. If I really think about it he was probably one of the most professional hair dressers I have ever been to.
There was a lady who seemed to be the boss and did the haggling / communicating / chasing anyone up the street who even dared to look in the direction of the business … she was very nice just a bit pushy initially.
Anyway it worked out that if I got my hair coloured they would cut it for free … cost 600000 vnd $36 aud … a bargain. I must say that the boy was so professional and everything was clean and done properly … I was very impressed.
So I went from long hair to that … I was very happy with the job and the price. It should be much easier to look after during my travels.
Also I did have a massage. I didn’t really want a massage but I needed some oil on my back due to it peeling after getting burned in Cairns last week.
So a young girl massaged my back, neck and shoulders. It was firm but really just perfect. That cost 150000 vnd $9 aud. It was outside of what they offered but I was insistent that I did not want a full massage … I had already been at the salon too long … I get bored with it.
They offered many other beauty services including ear wax cleaning … which I watched being done twice during my visit. Anyway I recommend them 😀 for your beauty needs if you are in the area Duong De Tham, Quan 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
PS … they had a nice clean toilet too … which I used while I was there.
