Day 4 Hoi An

It is still raining here but after a day of being indoors I really feel like I need to get out.
I took up the offer of a free bicycle and cycled to An Bang Beach which is 5km away from where I am staying.
It drizzled and rained the whole way so I was soaked when I got home but still enjoyed the trip.

These kumquat trees are growing everywhere in Hoi An at the moment. They are being grown for Tet and play an important part in Tet festivities in this area.
The sea was wild but very beautiful when I got there.

I am unsure if there was just no swimming today or always. I did some Google research on this and am still unsure … there are stories of families swimming here in recent years.

I had some scallops and a Diet Coke. The scallops tasted ok and cost 110000 vnd $6.70 aud. I was worried about having a reaction or stomach upset but there was nothing so that is good. I was hassled by street vendors though and ended up buying an ankle bracelet and a small candle from two different ladies … they having a living to make.

I actually saw Cattle Egrets on my ride back home but sadly no breeding plumage and no good camera to capture them with.

That evening I decided to get a grab bike ride into Hoi An as there was evidently a lantern festival on that night. This is held on the 14th day of each lunar month.
Maybe I am crazy but I went on the back of a bike in the rain. I took this photo before leaving my easy rider driver who was smiling despite the wet conditions.

I walked around a bit in the rain and took some photos but most of them were spoiled by the rain.

After a short time I just got a grab cab back to my Homestay. Hopefully the weather gets better soon.
