Bangkok - Day Trip to Chon Buri - Car Tour

I got up in the morning and walked to a local market. I really had not done any walking around the area.

Mr Kong is driving me to Chon Buri today in his car. I am unsure as to what we will be doing but I am just winging it.
We drive on the motorway through Bangkok and out the other side. The speed is 120 kmph … I am feeling that is too fast even though it is 130 kmph in the Northern Territory where I live. Here we are on a motorway with lots of traffic and I feel that the speed should be restricted to 100 kmph … just my thoughts.
First stop was at a business belonging to family of Mr Kong, near Chon Buri. Mr Kong loaded his Ute with rubbish to take to the dump … a good deed for family. We also had lunch … I had broth with noodles and pork. The broth was nice but the pork was a bit suspect. It was only $1 plus some cents so a nourishing meal for the price.

Next we went to the Grand Canyon which is an old stone and gravel quarry. It contains water that ranges from emerald green to black in colour … depending on the weather. It was green on the hot sunny day that I was there.

It was a bit scary out on the platform. It was a nice walk and view but the sun was very hot.

Next stop was at the very beautiful Na Jasa Tai Chue Shrine at Ang Sila … just along from Chon Buri. I loved this place.

This beautiful shrine overlooked the ocean. I feel that this was a place that I must go back to. While searching for this shrine I found some other wonderful temples to visit in this area … I must return.
We then drove up Monkey Mountain. There were many places, as we drove up the hill, selling food for the monkeys. I don‘t like how monkeys behave around tourists with food so I did not get anything for them. When we got to the top there was food laying around everywhere so the monkeys are definately over fed.

As much as I did not like the scavenging monkeys, the view was nice.
After visiting the monkeys we went to Chon Buri Beach. The plan was to have a swim but the water was a deep green colour. Mr Kong said that it was due to the overgrowth of plankton.

The green water was still attracting swimmers. I looked it up online and read that the water can be slimy and smelly … I was not keen to get any on me so could not even enjoy a paddle.
There were many families at the beach enjoying the breeze as it cooled down the hot afternoon. The under cover restaurant areas were filled with people.

There were many food stalls selling fresh seafood. We had a green papaya salad and some bbq chicken before heading back to Bangkok.
